Buddhist Monastery Tengboche
We were able to observe a prayer service of monks here and they blessed our prayer flags that we purchased in Kathmandu. Lama was also busy doing blessings for a man who was very sick.
Arrived here at 13,500 elev. its cloudy and no view of mountains at all. Rooms are teeny w no bathroom must go to outside hole in ground. We all have our midweight jackets and winter hats on, as with no sun its very cold-guessing below 40? Learned today that The goddess Tara was derived from the Buddha's tears and is the deity of compassion.

Addendum-got up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and went outside only to see the clouds had cleared and the dark night sky yielded bright stars and crystal clear views of the mountains. Even if you are not religious, looking around you have to believe there is a force greater than yourself in the universe. It is beautiful beyond words.
